The Tolix Chair A56. In 1956 when Jean Pauchard designed the armchair to go with his father’s Chaise A, the first Managing Director of the newly established Tolix Company was creating one of the 20th Centuries classics. Based on the Chaise A, and because it was the year 1956, the chair was called the A56. Half a century later, the Fauteuil A56 (Armchair A56) designed by Jean Pauchard has become one of the most influential pieces of 20th Century metal furniture design.

It looks amazing with modern straight lines, and sits with equal comfort next to old antique pine tables or teak and walnut heavy legged family heirlooms. It is also equally at home as a stand alone bedroom or hallway chair

Available in Raw Varnished, Painted  and Stainless Steel (for outdoor use) finishes.
 
Raw Varnished: Raw steel with a transparent soft gloss varnish - for Interior Use.
The Raw Varnished finish is timeless & gives the chair its industrial quality. This finish most reflects the age of the design & sits comfortably next to all surfaces. The Industrial finish is evidenced in the slight differences in color due to the variations in the original metal sheet. In addition the welds & joins used to assemble the chair can be seen under the varnish.
 
Painted:  For Interior Use  
The Tolix A56 Chair is available in approximately 50 paint colours, including gloss, matt and fine textured. The Painted finish is a great way to add energy and colour to a room.
