Kantha Cloth Vintage Sari Textile from India - no. 1 Blue / Purple
NZ $690.00
A Sustainable Textile with Story and Soul
Handmade in India using layers of vintage saris, each Kantha cloth is a one-of-a-kind piece rich in colour, texture and history. Traditionally created by women in the Bengal region, multiple worn cotton saris are layered and hand-stitched together using thousands of small running stitches, giving the cloth its distinctive rippled texture and soft, lived-in feel.
Originally made for family use as light quilts, wraps and everyday household textiles, Kantha is one of the world’s oldest forms of textile upcycling — giving beautiful new life to existing fabrics.
No two pieces are ever the same. Subtle variations, colour shifts and gentle imperfections are part of their character and authenticity. A timeless textile that brings warmth, colour and global craftsmanship into the home.
Layered with history and stitched by hand — every Kantha cloth is completely unique.
